Andrew MacLaren, Ph.D.

Andrew McLaren Phd

With Cambrian since 2019, Dr. MacLaren contributes to monitoring, research, and recovery of Endangered Species, primarily Central Texas Eurycea Salamanders and Houston Toads. He has studied both federal and state threatened and endangered species since 2013, and has since published over 30 articles focusing on the natural history, distribution, ecology, and best management practices for these species. Dr. MacLaren’s dissertation focused on methods of detection of the endangered Houston Toad, with an emphasis on improving detection through implementing technological advancements. This research resulted in a strong background in statistics and experimental design. At Cambrian, Dr. MacLaren’s skills in biology, statistics, and best management practices are applied towards long-term population monitoring for Eurycea salamanders, and assessments of risk, potential habitat, and biodiversity throughout Central Texas.
